What to note when your brickwork needs attention
Worn joints, damaged bricks and other details worth discussing before a repair.

Brickwork is full of details. If you notice worn mortar, loose material, a damaged brick or a change in the appearance of a chimney, make a note of the location and what you can see from a safe position.
Photographs from ground level can be useful when making an enquiry. Explain whether the change is recent and whether it is close to a roof edge, entrance or other area of concern.
A repair should be discussed in relation to the existing materials and the scope of the problem. Repointing, localized brick repairs and a larger restoration project are different conversations.
